AQL sample size chart for General Level II: every lot size against the common AQLs
Find your lot size in the first column, then read across to your AQL; each cell gives the sample size to inspect and, in brackets, Ac/Re. At general inspection level II the code letter comes from Table I, so the lot size fixes the starting row. Because the arrows in Table II-A must be followed, the plan actually used can belong to another code letter, so the sample size can change from one AQL column to the next in the same row. For how to read an AQL table, including the arrows, see how to read an AQL table.
General Level II sample sizes at the six common AQLs
This grid is single sampling for normal inspection only; every cell below follows the arrows in Table II-A.

In every AQL cell, the number before the brackets is the sample size; the first number in brackets is Ac, so accept the lot when the number of defective units found is Ac or fewer, and the second is Re, so reject it when Re or more.
The Table II-A footnote says that if the sample size equals or exceeds the lot or batch size, 100 percent inspection is to be done. In this grid that applies to some of the small-lot cells; it is not listed here which ones.
Rows can point to another letter's plan. Lot 91 to 150 has code letter F, but at AQL 1.0 the plan used is letter E's, 13 (0/1), and at AQL 1.5 it is letter G's, 32 (1/2). For lots of 35,001 and over, the AQL 4.0 plan comes from code letter M and the AQL 6.5 plan from code letter L.
Where the numbers come from
Every number here is a value from Table I and Table II-A of MIL-STD-105E, Sampling Procedures and Tables for Inspection by Attributes (U.S. Department of Defense, 10 May 1989), taken as single sampling plans for normal inspection. ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 and ISO 2859-1 descend from MIL-STD-105E. The cells on this page were not compared cell by cell with the current paid editions of ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 or ISO 2859-1, and where a contract or purchase order names a standard and edition, that one governs.
Questions people ask
Where does the code letter column come from?
It comes from Table I at general inspection level II, and you can check it against the code letter table. The lot size fixes the code letter, but the plan used may still come from another letter once the arrows are followed.
Why can one lot-size row use different sample sizes?
Because the arrows move the plan to another code letter. For example, 91 to 150 is letter F, but at AQL 1.0 the grid uses letter E's plan of 13 (0/1) and at AQL 1.5 letter G's plan of 32 (1/2).
What plan does the grid give for 10,001 to 35,000 at AQL 4.0?
At lot sizes 10,001 to 35,000 and AQL 4.0, the plan written in the grid is 315 (21/22).
